Magnetic components, solutions and products have a wide range of applications in industry. We have discussed this several times before, including how manhole covers can be lifted with our MAGLIFT manhole cover lifters, how production facilities can be cleaned from metallic scrap using our magnetic sweepers and how sheet metal can be handled more easily with our sheet metal separators.
In addition, new products for the industrial environment are constantly being developed, and magnets are often a recurring component in various solutions. One such new product that has begun to attract attention over the past year is magnetic steps.
Magnetic steps are portable steps that can be attached to metal walls as an alternative to traditional ladders or immobile scaffolding. One or more magnetic steps can be attached at a suitable location but also be moved easily as the work progresses.
Possible work environments where this is a valued solution are those where ground-based structures are not possible, such as when repairing boat hulls at sea or servicing wind turbines high up in the air. In these environments, safety harnesses of various types are usually used, but in combination with magnetic ladders, the worker can also stand stably while performing the work. Such a solution can be both useful and appreciated.
