Over the weekend, news broke that China has halted the export of certain rare earth metals, pending the introduction of new regulations in response to the US's new tariffs on Chinese imports. Among the rare earth metals covered by the export ban are various types of magnets, which are considered crucial for the global automotive and aviation industries. This primarily applies to rare earth metals found in Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) magnets, as well as in certain grades of Neodymium magnets (super magnets).
HYAB works proactively with our partners with regard to changes in global trade policy and resource availability. We are in continuous contact with our suppliers in China and have, in consultation with them, concluded that HYAB is not affected by the export ban at this time. We expect to continue to be a reliable supplier of magnetic components and products to our customers around Europe.
However, the global trade policy situation can change rapidly. We are monitoring the situation and will publish updates on an ongoing basis and in the event of significant changes.
